Not quite accurate.

Ralph and Stormkitten were in the closed beta and I was in the open beta and head start; none of us stayed with it. In fact my copy of the game is sitting on the side here unopened.

Personally speaking, the space combat is different and initially novel, the ground combat is bland. PvP is quite good with the Klingon characters being almost entirely PvP and their ships utlising different tactics to the Federation staships. The missions up to the first 11 levels that I came across tend to be very similar relying on the space combat to carry it off.

If this game becomes of interest to the majority then I'll activate my account, but until then I'll pass.

Sorry it is not a glowing endorsement but I don't think you would want me to lie. No

Ground ops definitely need some improvement though I have come across some nice scenarios. Closing on captain rank, I must say that the repetitive critic is a bit too true. That being said, it is for most MMO. Space combat is really different from Eve in that it's much more directly active.

No 100% sure.
I did and don't really regret but it's not as good as it might be.
The main critic I've heard that I would easily endorse is that it would have been better as a solo game.
My char is lvl 30 (out of 50) and I've yet to try Pvp so I won't pretend to have seen everything. I've tried only one large instance once and arrived by the end of the battle so I can't say I have test that either. One interesting if controversial feature is autogrouping : when you enter a group sized instance (solar system with a mission you have in) you are grouped with players having the same mission. While said missions are sometime not soloable, the system doesn't lead to much communication. Also, the complexities of character, ship and bridge officers selections mean there is no clear cut role.
May be the game would be different with a guild (fleet) backing ?
I continue my test...

If you are going to try PvP then you have to create a Klingon character in order to appreciate how they fight.

Feds form a blob or mass formation.
Klingons pick off the stragglers and those that stray too far from the blob. If they attck a mass formation they are either yet to learn or trying to draw a couple of ships away!

Good hunting.
