| "new situation" for the upcoming future
recently announced, just figured: Starwars - The Old Republik will be launching not befor spring 2011.
since many of us planned to give it a try, we maybe have a new situation now for autumn and winter this year. combine this with the actual outlook for Vanguard's future as in server merges and a forsee- able lack of developer support, we might have to consider alternatives.
personally I still like Vanguard, but recently I did it more to stick in vital contact with all of you. the basic feeling although went down with the news about server merges and realizing the very low developer support for the game. so I really feel very open to alternatives, which I actually recognize most with the new 'Final fantasy XIV'. but as I said ... very open for suggestions and ideas ...
to list some ideas:
- sticking to Vanguard at least til SWTOR-launch, maybe focussing on making some new friends after the server merge - checking out FF 14 by trying to join the beta or joining at launch - some more research for existing/upcoming MMO's - switching to Conan until we feel to switch to one of the MMO's announced for 2011
the poll offers multiple choice and cancelling votes, also poll can be updated following new ideas and suggestions

| I like the idea of something new. Vanguard was a very enjoyable game knowing that there would be an update but seems they have nothing new except a merge. I have been playing Age of Conan with Ghil and we find it pretty enjoyable. Crafting/Harvesting is a little dull and easy to understand. Leveling is fast like Aion but there is about a million more quests and places to go. Graphics are better then Aion too. I can't wait till some of these other mmo's are to be released also. Rift looks to be a great mmo and can't wait till it is released. | |

| since Rift only is anounced for a global "2011" it could be autumn 2011, which means another 1.5 year to wait. gonna add suggestions and ideas to the list started in the thread above and also start a poll to get an overview, where we tend to. | |

| oh, well my plans are up the swanny lol, I just got myself banned after letting Raijinn know I thought he was a cock on the SOE forums.......ok, I didn't say it like that , but the results the same : 3 day forum ban ........... screw them, i'm not paying 10 quid a month to be punished like a naughty kid just for speaking my mind, by the very people i'm supposed to be a customer of. Guess that's me and VG done. I was just pissed off at the disregard for everyone with the halgar server merge/not merge, might merge sometime if we feel like it fiasco. Sorry guys I can accept getting shit on, but I'm not one to sit around and let anyone rub it in. | |

| Rift does look promising. I'm keeping half an eye on it but I'm not walking from VG yet even if it is being run by the League of Village Idiots. Too many goals I've yet to reach at the moment. | |

| I'm guessing , and this is just my theory here nothing more, that some smart arse said I can't be bothered with doing 2 seperate mergers its too much like hard work , and we all know the vg devs are adverse to a bit of that and so they decided lets just merge the US servers and then transfer the few Halgar players still active , I must live in a bubble cause i seem oblivious to this but apparently theres not very many at all active on Halgar most of the time, I've been hearing 30-40 players at low times going up to a few hundred at peak . Now I can understand if its not cost effective and of course they have people they have to answer too but its beyond me how they could be so dumbass as to announce they are cancelling our merge without having a plan in place already for what they intend to do with Halgar ,they must know as well as we do that thats gonna send the crazies round the twist *points at shad * I can understand it is frustrating not knowing whats gonna happen , are we gonna be crammed in like sardines on the new server which tbh I don't find appealing or left behind and forgotten on Halgar but for me its not such a big deal , vg lost its shine long ago and now whatever happens, happens . Now having said that we do have double xp for the weekend and I shall be taking full advantage of this of course :P I'll be around in vg until another game catches my attention or I don't find it enjoyable any more which ever comes first. | |

Ked, you cannot begin to imagine just how much I wish I'd thought of that line yesterday. I think Heth has got the best idea, enjoy it for as long as its serving its purpose to you guys or until something better comes along. Like most guys I'm really holding high hopes for Rift, and if we do all stick together on here in the meantime whilst playing whatever we are playing, we have a sound group of us if it does live up to our hopes. I'm not surprised I got a ban off Raijinn yesterday tbh, whilst I don't agree with his accusation that I was trolling, I was pretty much expecting what I got for refusing to accept his lame explainations which actually explained nothing whatsoever. When he suggested the players had caused this drama and wine fest I had a kind of 'Banzai' moment and sacrificed myself ..... or as it's more commonly known, couldn't keep my gob shut ......... in my defence, I got sunstroke yesterday ........although that doesn't explain all the other times.

| I like the trial of Conan so far ... guess I will sub and play for a while ... still some time left on Vanguard, maybe resubbing in autumn, if we get it managed to have some more playing Vanguard again ... basically both is more like an intermezzo while waiting for Rift or Starwars TOR or FF 14 ...
--> Shad and the merge/no-merge issue ... understandable reaction, but overheated anyways ... ;-) ... you always have the chance to rethink at lower temperatures. ... ;-) ... SOE really is a master pissing of paying customers.
--> merge/no-merge issue ... don't think this was decided on the level of game-developers ... must have to do with the fact, that Halgar physically runs in Europe combined with onforeseeable plans of SOE MMO division and their plans and rivalries. but thats just my 10 cents ...

| Yea I agree Ralf, telling customers that the merger may or may not go ahead at 30 days notice though, when those already merged need to decide wether to rebuild GH's etc, or wait until next merge, is really taking the piss to the maximum though.
If we decided to rebuild our GH for example, we may rebuild it and decorate it only to find out that in 30 days it comes down yet again. And if they assured us that Halgar will not be merged, who's going to believe them anyway after this scenario?
Players at the very least need some confidence in the stability of their world, knowing that stuff you do today will be relevant tomorrow. Now they even managed to take that away, the actual investment in time.

| So going by what i've read here so fare. You got yourself banned from the forum for 3 days and decided to quit VG all together Shad. Wouldn't you say that what they did was through you a bone and you caught it mate. Looks like we have our old friend 'Dead Dog Dodge' back.
Saying all that I can easily see where your coming from in doing what you did Shad. Why have official game forums where you cant actually say anything negative or question decisions made by the MMO creators. I see no point in this and as long as your not using foul language you should be allowed to put these kinds of questions to everyone online.
Both my and Aoli are sadened by the news that you have both quit your subscriptions, but we will see you both in RL which is good.
Its typical of these USA owned MMO's to just turn around and say where all right Jack, we'll look after our own and bugger the rest of the world. They can just make do with what we give them.
Well thats a few lines from me expressing how i feel about the whole scenario.
