Guild Wars 2 ?

Hi folks! I know, long time no contact. Had to wait for a new rig as my old one was eating motherboards for supper.

So is anyone considering making Guild Wars 2 their next game and if so which server?! I've played in all the Beta testing so far and although it has some issues, in general I'm finding it quite refreshing. Guilds/groups are great but not essential (yipee!). Had a lot of fun in the dynamic, auto-scaling events.

lol, also addicted to Alan Wake & Assassin's Creed series currently. Anyone feel like telling my boss I haven't got time to work - too much gaming to fit in :P

I Preordered because I had some spare cash on the strength of what people have said about the Beta weekends though I haven't played.

I buggered about in SWTOR this morning but got annoyed with how easy it is. Also messed about in EvE for a bit as I got 15 days free but its like watching paint dry. Currently playing Darkfall but I think I'm the only person on EU1.

But yeah I'll be giving GW2 a try.

I think I've got a free 10 days in Xsyon kicking around somewhere as well.

I will try GW2 also. Never tried the beta but the little teaser videos look good enough for me. I maybe send some spare cash over to Shad for him to buy it.
Think he might have packed up his pc for a box of tissues instead. When is it due to arrive and maybe whoever gets it first can post the server details here.

You know Fred, I'm getting extremely worried about Shad, neither your or my attempts to bait him have resulted in any come back - I would have expected a sarcastic come back by now. I only hope he's put enjoying the weather.

Currently on the Petrified Forest server. No other reason than I liked the name :P Some of the servers will be predominantly for various languages but so far I've not come across much of an issue with that.

Should I leave a cookie trail to tempt everyone to join me?!?!

The next beta weekend has just been announced - of course as suspected this is when I'm away on holiday (8th-10th June) but if I can get back early enough, believe me, I'll be logging in :P

I've been playing Tera today - its an absolutely awesome game - Guild Wars 2 will have a lot to live up to with its twitch/skill based combat as TSW, normally I really dislike Korean style graphics but this game is awesome I'm willing to put up with it.

I've preordered and been in every beta so far. I love the PvP though the PvE doesn't particularly grab me.

World PvP is really fun and entertaining for hours. I was doing it for 5 hours and it only felt like 30 minutes.

I'm gonna be playing it and it's going to be my "go to" game for PvP fun.

Also since Planetside 2 is coming out I'm gonna be in there since I spent over 5 years playing the original Planetside and managed to grab one of the top 10 rankings in the world. So I hope I will enjoy Planetside 2.

Having played both I definitely prefer The Secret World, I couldn't abide the art style in GW2 for starters.

If any are playing this can you please give some details to which server to choose and if you like it or not.

Been toying with the idea, it costs twice as much for us though with two of us playing so was gonna let you all see how it was first....plus cant do much with tan's mum still here another three weeks.....

I got in a match with 4 on each side, our 4 hunted as a pack and we ripped the other team apart. 3 of us should make a good little hunting pack in them........if we die fast we'll get called all sorts of names though lol.

I spent a bit of time playing the free WoW trial too as I'd never played it. It's easy but not bad, I was surprised. Couldn't solo a lot of stuff so not as easy as some say, the dungeons are pretty sweet. Bit cartoony but easy to get into. Theres a special on today too, the first expansion to play to lev 70 with a month playtime for £4. Ends today though I think.

Me and ghil had 8 vs 8 at himmelsdorf, but you know how good he is at driving he died as soon as he got to the top of the hill.
He is just starting to explore the maps, found a bunch more bushes to hide in now.

WoW is not bad, but I don't like the art style or the community (bunch of wankers, thus WoW shall now be known as World of Wankers) so I stopped playing quite soon after I started. This was during the no-game phase between Vanguard and Rift.

Still can't get myself to actually like GW2, Even played on my friends accound during some of the events they did, I didn't pre-purchace so couldn't access them with my account. The art was beautiful, but I just couldn't get used to the UI, It's just horrible, I don't like it. Plus with the Rift expansion right around the corner, I don't see myself looking for a new game any time soon.

Guild wars 2 is pretty good. Lots to learn and do. Combat is pretty cool and who needs a stinkin' healer anyhow. I have logged in the european server Ring of Fire and name is Freddd and I choose a human thief.

Also found out if a player that is level 50 enters a level 10 area their skills are dropped to that area. Combat is very new. Can only have 1 hot bar and it sets itself for the weapons you put into your main and offhand. So the 5 skills change depending on what is in them. Crafting is really simple, like conan. Collect items to make components for larger complete items, and its just a bar that fills for progress. Collect 50 pieces of leather scraps and instantly make 10 leather straps with a click.

Well, I have to say that it's not the super-tank many think it is... maybe in the beginning before nerfs... but it's not bad either, I get far more deflection with it than with my Panther II.
And hunting in packs, makes much more fun I'm a little disappointed with my IS8, but maybe it will become better with the next gun.
Also upcoming is the E-50 after the panther, that could be fun... only need about 15K for it, but still lack money to buy it, so it's nice to have the Type and the Löwe to bring some cash for it.

Well, I think I will have a go at GW2 as well... and if I do I will most likely try all classes, but thief is of course my first choice.

I even tried a little Vanguard Free to play... and well, it's about the same as always. A little more people actually.

No more Tiger II, I had to sell it to finance my E75. It's slow as a friggin Maus, by the time I get anywhere either Arti's got me or we won already. 60k xp for the Ferdi Gun for it, plus another 50k for the engine......not to mention tracks and turret.... Friggin upgrades to make it playable cost more than the Tank itself.

Type is great fun though!

Weired thing, I really struggle to get a win in Panther II still. Odd cos I had great stats in first Panther.

Ooh, -50k to go for Ferdi or Jagpanther II...... which one though?

I knew the minute I read it again that you would ask that question Well, Jim is our secret nickname for you of course.

Yeah, I have the same problem with the IS8... I drive around with the IS3 gun on it still, and need about 50K to get a new gun.

For a new TD... I don't know since I haven't tried the new german TD, but they say it's more mobile and the Ferdi is like turning an elephant in a bad mood. But the Ferdis upgrade gun is really awesome.
I think the two german TD are about the same, just a little different in playstyle.

I have to say that GW2 is not too bad. I quite enjoy it. Still trying out different races and classes. It has some elements from both Aion and Rift and I guess EQ2. With the difference that you don't need to grind.
And best thing of all, you don't need to go look for a person giving a quest. As soon as you are in the neighbourhood you get the quest. Also the is event happening like in rift, but as annoying as in rift Also I like the fact that you buy the game, and don't pay anymore for it. Although I suspect there will be upcoming expansions to buy, like in Everquest.

I'm hoping once the initial hype is over I'll pick up a couple of copies cheep. How integral or important is the PvP? As ya know we're not so much into that. After getting ripped by Aion and FF XIV I'm kinda making sure first. I been playing WoW in the mornings before everyones up, it's alright I spose, same old thing as EQ and VG really, just much more to do...........well, much more of the same thing.

The difference that they have managed to do in GW versus other mmo's, is that here people actually help each other.
If you die, anyone can rez you, and they usually do pretty quick. When there is an even nearby, the game lets you know on screen and map, and you can choose to take part and earn some xp, or just move along.
Also the events it's not as hysterical as in Rift. So far dying has ben pleasant, as the only thing that has happend is that you need to rez at a teleport station... maybe you get some penalties as you go up in level.

PvP is non-existant if you choose to play PvE. You can choose to go PvP or World vs World mode whenever you want, but it's not required to do so at all.

Graphic is really nice but still runs nice on my old PC.

Overall it seems like a pretty relaxed game, and that suits me good

One other difference that I discovered is that I created a guild, and then I was on another toon than the creator toon, and I saw that I was already in the guild... so it seems you belong to a guild account wise, not per character. Wich I think is kind of good, made it soo much simpler... no more needing to ask for every alt to get into the guild.

The game is a bit confusing in the beginning, but the more I see of it, the more I like it so far.
