Google caught in the act.... saw this on the list of users, who do they think they are, do they have a warrant to search our message board?!
In total there is 1 user online :: 1 Registered, 0 Hidden and 0 Guests :: 1 Bot Most users ever online was 6 on Sat Jul 12, 2008 5:48 pm

They don't need any warrant, as Internet is not a private business... if you think you can be private on the net think again ... It's called indexing ... and without it we wouldn't find a thing on any serch engine ...

aye all they are doing is updating there databasse using bot programs to do so...
personally i think boads such as phpp etc should have an opt in/out facility... but it is pretty harmless... beware the ad bot they are the ebil ones.

Aye, it's just a spider indexing. It's easy to avoid, that's what robots.txt is for

yep I know it's how they index something though I think they should give prizes to people that spot it like a years worth of cake.

IIRC there is a simple configuration option in phpBB to disallow bots to search the message board if one wants so, that is honored by most of the serious search engines.

Only if you are the site owner and can get to the php codes...which im not its a free one, so they can be nosey and pick up on stuff its ok, what things can't do is post and stuff.
