.. or at least, not of the picture-kind.
But since we do seem to have some oldtime EQ vets here - I thought I'd do some shameless self-promotion and post a link to this:
http://tarskstavern.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0What are these?? Well, they're EQ parody songs written (and recorded) by myself and my partner-in-crime, a Gnome Necro called Barquin Andbytin. They were all recorded sometime in 2003.
So, the story goes - Back when I lived in Cheltenham, I used to play guitar for an 80s covers band (i've been playing guitar for the best part of 25 years, some of it semi-professionally)
Well, the lead singer of the band, Barquin, was also a gamergeek, and we played EQ together as well. We'd heard some of the other EQ-based comedy songs that others had released, like "Has Anyone Seen My Corpse?", but with the arrogance of professional musicians decided that we could do better
(That part isn't necessarily true, by the way)
So.... I had a friend who played a Gnome Rogue called Crikette Notasnack and one day, I just started humming the melody and words to Duran Duran's Rio, and somehow, out of nowhere "Her name is Rio and she dances in the sand / Just like the river twisting through the dusty land" became "Her name is Crikette and she stabs them in the back / Just like the other rogues, she'll use her sneak attack"
... Well, Rio's an 80s song. And naturally, it was one of the songs that we in the covers band used to play. So Barq and I already knew how to play/sing/record it. So I finished the lyrics, and we threw down a real quick version and played it for Crik.
Turned out, she loved it - So we re-recorded it properly, and the rest, as they say, is history..
.. if you played EQ in the day and things like "Sleeper's Tomb" or "Tunare" or "NToV" mean anything to you .. If you remember killing King Dain or Ragefire KSes for the Cleric epic, or drowing trying to kill Phinny. If you remember drunken races in Kelethin and falling off the platforms and dying, the neverending shouts of "TRAIN LEFT" in Karnor's.. Or even if you remember the (gasp) fabled, hallowed uber Dwarven Ringmail Tunic, Ambassador D'Vinn and Sargeant Slate outside Freeport.. maybe you'll get a chuckle out of these.
