| It really does look good ,I'm always blown away with how great they make these new games look , however its a little cheeky making you pay for extra characters ,as a self confessed alt-a-holic that'll end up costing me a fortune | |

| Open Beta now open http://entry.ffxiv.com/Nice way to check it out without having to buy it first. Good luck with the Dloads though. I couldnt get into the beta area of the site after registering so got the installer from a 3rd party site. Then the patcher wouldn't work for me so I'm dloading the patches via Bit Torrent as we speak. It's over 4 meg though so could take awhile. | |

| Keep trying heth, I can dload patches etc now but took a couple of days.
Got in this afternoon, now I'm completely lost. Its a bit heavy going on my comp, but Tan's should run it fine. System specs are pretty high end which makes my mouse a bit draggy even on low settings.
Looks very pretty though, even on my old PC. | |

| Hmmm, just got wisey in. Neither of us accessed the Beta test site it seems.
There should be a download for the game and patches on ffxiv site. Also you need a square ennix account, then you register for the beta key, then you register the beta key as per the emailed instructions.
Nowt like making things easy lol.

| I have made an account and registered a beta key , the link in the e-mail sent me to a login page which I can't get past , it just hangs for a few seconds and then goes back to login . Could you put in a link to the download page please , not sure it'll help but gotta be worth a try | |

| I'm having exactly the same problems as Hethyla, I've registered the key but when I try to download the client it just keeps looping, oh well those cutsie anime style characters aren't really my thing anyway! | |

| I did make it in game, took me 4 hours . I jumped thru a bunch of hoops just to make it in a hallway and found that my mouse lags a lot. What server and starter areas did everyone choose? | |

| found a beta client download here : http://www.mediafire.com/?qtv92vpuaxqzvtx I think the patches should work once you have this although I dloaded them with bit torrent but wisey didn't. Yea my mouse drags too Fred, even on low settings. Moonies is fine though on high........guess our PC's are getting old lol. We started on the Trabia server at the Port City, (Think its the firse option in the starter city list). I'm finding the story line is good, but things are very vague, can't find out how to craft or harvest so far, just seem to be spending all my time running from a to b for the questline. Guess its harder, never having played FF at all ever. | |

| Plenty of complaints about mouse lag on a lot of MMO boards, the game is designed to be played with a controller apparently as the majority of the Japanese market uses consoles to play FFXI and because of compatibility with the PS3 version that's due out. | |

| I have never played a FF game either but from what I have read you can learn to craft by finding the craft guild and then the npc that offers you the leve/quest . I have no idea where this might be but people have said they have spent hours running around just talking to npcs so I'm guessing its a process of elimination :P | |

| Well, its taken ages but i found the quests to craft. So far I like the crafting/harvesting/fishing aspect quite a lot, although finding out how to do it all has been a bugger, still not completely there but its starting to all tie in and make sense.
