PostSubject: Mouse Patcher   : Final Fantasy XIV - links & infos - Page 2 Icon_minitimeSun Sep 12, 2010 7:11 pm

Here you go heth if you dont locate it first

wtf is with this long thingie where that come from ............ anyways

http://www.avalonbears.com/FFXIVMousePatcher.exe

Put it in: C:\Program Files\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version loose and then double click it, hopefully sort you out.

Yes lol amazingly confusing Very Happy the hubs start off the newbie quests you have time limits on a few but i mean half hour to catch 3 fish takes mins........ before you even start them... do the main line quest get the cash, go to the shop down at the port...... actually run around the whole city like a loonie to mark all places, then go to the port and buy

1. Fishing Rod
1. lot of bait - 100
1. Frying Pan - 1 Culnery Knife
1. Hatchet - 1. Scythe
1. Pick - 1 sledgehamer

One is prymery slot on is seconday need both.

Umm i think thats it... if it sparkles on a tree lumber it, grass scythe it, rocks cry a lot then hit it, all target variables dead weird but efficient once you sus the hitting bit and targets

Fishing is the easiest and scything grass takes very little effort.

Mobs so far do not auto target

Dodos are evil one hit killers so are rose dragon thingies, the sheep are hillarious :P

Bout all i know so far Very Happy

Quests... make sure you have all the equipment you need first. Or you stuff up your quests and have to wait a full day to re-take, they limit them to stop power leveling, saying that still a barage of dam bots around trying to sell money that is useless because your chars will not live to see the full game, dim money sellers very grrrrrrr when trying to quest, but it does not spoil the game.

If you get a quest reward recipe write down the ingreedients there is no cooking book yet.

Cod is: Salt and Cod easy one

Trout is : 1 rainbow trout, handful of nutmeg seeds (harvested or on rats) and one pinch of table salt think you get that from the cooking shop.

Best thing is mark all shops etc and explore at least you can get a good jist from the map, north is another camp camp skulls go mark and set the teleporter.

All things are found right hand screen in the paper, dialogues to start fishing come up on your screen in speach bubbles, click and it opens the right side paper and click to fish or etc etc

Cooking is ok bit like vg crafting you have to judge from the points you have, weather to cook fast slow or blitz usual stuff.

Same with all craft and harvest, target is governed by depth and how hard you hit as well as where you stop your gage. Have to judge that one.

Not sure how to keep your spells on your bar yet, its doing my head in as a mage i have to reset them every time I equip a tool, im sure that there must be a way though.

Think thats it really Very Happy my font of two days knowledge rofl

Hugs

Still queued to repatch after the server down.

Anyone with the mouse patcher, remember to back up your FFXIVGame.exe file as you'll need to replace it each time they repatch and rerun the mouse patch again, otherwise you get an error when starting after patching.

ROFL Very Happy .

There's no PVP though which is kind of putting me off, playing DFO has given me a taste for it, even though its twitch based mechanics mean I lose to these 20 year old kids with reflexes like snakes on methamphetamine! I got ganked by a guy who turned out to be a 23 year old member of a Norwegian anti-terrorist team! I'm too fat, old and slow for it! Think I'm going to try the EVE online trial instead since I hear PVP there is about out planning and out thinking the other dude! Anyway have fun guys and gals and take care.

Understanding the fatigue system

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abE09-tqhoM

the beta test site has all the controls mapped out and the game manual is very very useful

https://dev-eu.ffxiv.com/ubbthreads.php
some of the replies in the faq of the game manual are both bizarre and hilarious

altho worryingly every time i log in my name is different ?!?

Well, the more I play the more I like FFXIV. The skill system really reminds me of UO as in you can create your toon and then have the freedom to skillup in whichever skills and professions you want, rather than the more common class system. For example, equip a sword, you gain sword skills, equip a bow you gain ranged etc. Same with the crafting, equip cooking tools and train to be a chef then swap to your hammer and saw to train carpentry etc. Your restriction is your stat allocation which defines your abilities more, but if you get fed up being a mage, you can reallocate them to a more fighter orientated set up. Get bored Smithing, just swap tools and do some Alchemy. Of course, I'd imagine it better to concentrate on a chosen profession to become competent in making specific things rather than doing a little of everything.

Harvesting so far includes Fishing, Mining, Herbology (Plants/timber) as well as mob drops which are also usable craft items (Bones/feathers/hides etc). Each different harvest skill is like a small minigame (each one different) so botting i'd imagine will be nigh impossible. So far I've concentrated on fishing and cooking (to cook my fish). You need to join a relevant guild to get craft recipes, which you cannot do in beta, but I've had a few basic recipes as Leve rewards so far.

Crafting is pretty straight forward once you know what you're doing, but requires concentration so as not to fail. Its pretty cool, but currently the UI is painfully slow although that could be inpart to my old PC which revvs up like an F16 taking off whenever I play.

The game seems to be very harvest/craft/commerce orientated again much like UO, and you can hire your own NPC's to either hold your stuff like extra storage, or to stand in one of the vendor malls.

All in all it feels VERY sandboxy in the true sense. The UI is currently VERY clunky, slow and awkward, but then it is still Beta, I'd imagine they'll fix this. Still lots to discover and if what we are told is true, the current content is only a small percentage of what we can expect.

This has kind of snuck in under the radar for me as I was awaiting Rift, I only really tried this as it was Open Beta and thought 'why not', but I've heard that rift may not be as sandboxy and 'crafty' as I'd hoped. So far this has a LOT that I like about it and feels like a Very 'old school' game with excellent graphics.

I agree with Chara about not liking the cutesy Anime style, but TBH, I really don't notice it once playing. Made a second Char today to explore another starter area and was blown away by the woodland starter zone. I got so nostalgic that I resurrected Charlie Foxtrott who had been my UO Elf Tamer and made an Elven Ranger, hopefully they'll have taming eventually in the full version. I've seen a big bird type of mount in the stables but you cant use them in beta :-(.

Loving it so far though.

I just die and die. How do I get bigger rocks to throw? Mobs do 50-80 damage and I do max 2 damage. I seem to have a stupid hammer but I guess its only for blacksmithing. I am at bearded rock and my first crafting quest is a fail and can not be redone. Game seems to be okay just needs more instructions.

What is everyones names also....can't find anybody Crying or Very sad

Fred you crazy man get yaself a weapon ,if you don't have a combat class to start with you will not have a weapon and will have to go to a vendor and purchase one . All the tools for harvesting and crafting or even weapons for other classes can be bought in the Limsa port where I started , not sure about the city in the forest not explored it enough yet but I would guess its the same everywhere. My char is called Heth Yla . I hear you can use a link shell to set up a chat kinda like guild chat I guess but I don't know where u purchase them or even if they are ingame in open beta.

Yea Fred, reroll as a fighter class and then just buy your crafting tools, much simpler that way.

Also make sure you follow the main questline as far as it will go as you get lotsa dosh for doing it enabling you to buy crafting/harvesting tools etc.

Easiest startup I found so far is the Port City and start a fisherman/cook. You can get a recipe for salted cod from a quest and then fish up cod and cook them for cooking/fishing xp/small profit.

It's deffo worth giving it a proper try Chara', I've certainly been surprised by it ...............oh, and Hurry Pred, Hurry !!

When does the Beta finish Shad? I'm away at my GFs for the next few days, her good desktop needs a new motherboard which I need to get round to buying and fitting, I'm not allowed to play games on her laptop after the incident involving a 36 hour insomnia fueled Age of Conan session and the exploding laptop! Good job it was still under warranty or I would've been in the hole for a couple of grand! I'll try to get round to it when I get back home on Thursday if its not finished.
